Day out with my cousin!!

“Life is indeed full of surprises”

I never knew the extent of this phrase until I met up with all my paternal cousins on one of the cousin’s wedding dinner. I got talking with one of them for a brief moment.

I call him, “Ah Tuck Kor Kor”. English name: James Ng (I can hear the snickering and laughter already!!) He’s the oldest cousin in the family and born in the year of the dragon. Why I mentioned this? Well, let’s just say that I (a rat) always seem to click very well with them. But I would have never thought that it would be this well with Cousin James.

The reason why I stopped blogging for a while was because of work (what else) and also because I’m having way too much fun going out with Cousin James and his bunch of friends. Heheee… It’s really really GOOD to have an elder cousin, almost like my own older brother looking out for me and having fun at the same time. AND!!! We get all the Teochew jokes, love eating Teochew Porridge after clubbing and before clubbing.

He asked: “Hey! Where were you when I was clubbing and drinking all these years??”

I laughed and said that I was still a doe-eyed little girl studying in secondary school. We both laughed and wondered what the other cousins and our relatives would think if they knew that we were hanging out. We were at Cafe Del Mar when we were having this conversation.

Our first outing was at Wine Connection at Robertson Quay. That was one crazy night!! And after that, Cafe Del Mar, Zouk, happy hour at the Irish Bar Duxton Hill.

AND! This Sat, Heineken Green Room Session around the Harbour Front area!! What a sudden whirl of activities!!!

Woo Hoo!!!!

A pity I lost my sony ericsson K700i.. Otherwise, there’ll be lots and lots of photos!!! Hahahaa!

Hmm… Borrow my brother’s camera? Hmmmm……. Good idea…

Good Clean Fun… Possible? Hmmm….

I’ve been following the blogs of famous bloggers in Singapore for an extended period of time. These bloggers include Xiaxue, Dawn Yang, Agrivelt, Sarah Ann Lim, Rachel Kum, etc.

To be honest, I am rather addicted to their blogs. I visit their blogs to find out what they have been up to lately as well as get some eye candy in (Pretty girls, fashion, pretty pictures). Basically get a taste of their very happening life.

However, I notice a trend. It seems that their life is full of parties, alcohol and food. I was looking at the blogs with my best friend Grace and we kind of agree that the trend is worrying.

Sarah wrote that she had so much alcohol one night that she started puking tummy juice and had to have medical attention. The drunken lifestyle of Agrivelt seems to titter near that. Surely, that isn’t a healthy lifestyle? I mean, the health takes a beating…

Dawn and Xiaxue’s blogs have a lot more variety (XX’s blog wins hands down for variety).

However, it is an unspoken agreement that night parties and events definitely are more exclusive.

(I’m not going to include pictures for fear that there’s some copyright issue)

Now, don’t get me wrong. Parties are great! Having fun is cool after a stressful week of work and dressing up is every girl’s perogative. That’s the reason why I follow their blogs to know the current clubbing scene and of course, the fashion and the ‘in’ place to have your meals now.

However, I do think that life is more than just parties, alcohol and food. What about a book that inspired you? What about the song that kept you enticed and why? What about the bad days in your life? What about …

The other day, I was just talking to my friend and I told him that it seems that most of us have forgotten about having good clean fun. Think about it; when was the last time you went to a party without any booze?

Hmmm….

Back to their blogs.. I guess it’s a marketing tactic? I mean people generally aren’t that interested in reading about your likes and dislikes unless it’s something ‘in’ or ‘cool’, even ‘luxurious’ looking.

It helps that they can doll themselves up when they go off for their weeking club affair. People do like to look at beautiful things…

Food for thought. (Especially for someone like me thinking of setting a blog shop)
